So, i just bought my wife an 01' Excursion. 7.3L with 176K on it. I'm working through some cosmetic stuff right now on it to get it 100%. I'm going to start a build thread soon in the X section.
However, I am also ready to order gauges. I have the Glowshift 3in1 black gauge in my 96' 7.3L 5spd. My biggest complaint about it is that its a PITA to read in bright light due to the reflection off the screen. This is pretty much in all daytime conditions unless its really cloudy(don't get a lot of that in CO). So, I am wondering if there is any difference between the black gauge vs. the tinted gauges in being able to read them.
I plan on buying three gauges with the A-pillar Pod this time instead of the 3in1 so I can at least see the red swing arm better than the small digital read out. Just curious if those of you with these can read them okay in daylight hours.
left alone for now.. I think its AX/O or BigAlsPSD that has pics of their dash lights converted. Looks good.
Been in the truck for a yr or so now, and gotten used to the "brightness". The newer ones for me are the gauges i posted the link of, and dig them the most. Not bright, or changing colors, functional and think it matches the look of the inside well.

Yeah, that is a concern as well. What I like about the 3in1 I have in my 96' is that its not bright at all at night(but its the only time you can read it due to the refections). So, having something too bright will be an issue at night. And, especially my wife who can't see real well when night driving anyway. But, I must have gauges. I like those, and the price is pretty much the same as the full kit anyway.
I just installed the 3 pillar 7 color tinted ones in my truck last week and really like them. I can see them very well during the day on most color combos. The only complaint I have is they are too bright at night on most colors and only dim 30% when my headlight are on (which helps). I run red at night and they are perfect as far as not too bright.
Overall I am very happy and they look sharp. I only paid $225 OTD and shipped. EGT, Boost, and Tran. with 3 pillar and harness.
I was considering the 3/1 gauge, glad I didn't now. 3 pillar kit isn't much more and looks dirty.
I have a four pillar set, the black 7 Series. I love them, seem to be okay at night, not too bright, and great during the day. I run mine on green, just my preference.
Running trans temp, boost, egt, and fuel psi.
Its a shame you could not spring for some higher quality gauges...
My wife has Isspro EV2's in her Excursion. Of course she also has 6 of them plus a Scan gauge...
I honestly just don't like the look of the Isspros at all. If I were to spend more, I would be running Autometer. Its just preference, and I think the Isspro looks outdated.

I have a Scan Guage as well.
New dodge match gauges...
No one offers more options, more factory match styles and better controls then Isspro...
Be it Performax or EV-2...
I think the Glowshift look right at home next to a V-tec sticker...
Okay, how is the glare and reflection off of them in bright day light?
It's fine. We actually had a sunny day up here (rare this time of year) and they were very easy to read. The different colors to choose from is a good problem to have with these gauges. I'm still trying to find what I like the best. I liked red at night last night, tonight I really liked the cobalt blue.
