Left Behind??
The books are well written, weaving several plot lines and characters back and forth. The plot is also very plausible using The Book of Revelations in the Bible as it's predictive source.
As a Christian, I believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God, that man chose to sin separating himself from God, that God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die as a sacrifice for our sins and provide salvation, and that all you have to do to accept this free gift of salvation is to ask Jesus Christ by faith to forgive you and to come into your heart.
It doesn't matter what denomination you are as long as you've accepted Christ as your savior. Other religions base salvation on works or how many infidels you've killed. This just doesn't make sense to me. When do I know that my good works have outweighed my natural habits of sin, and how many dead infidels are enough?
That being said, I believe that Christ is returning again to rapture his believers and that billions of people will be "Left Behind". Fortunately for those left bbehind, this is not their last chance to accept God's free gift of salvation. To see how it all ends, read Revelations. To read a futuristic, fictional yet realistic view of how it may happen, read the "Left Behind" series.

I have read all the books in the series to date. With all due respect, I must disagree. Several people I work with are reading the series and we have entered into some very deep discussions about the end times as a result of discussing the books.......and I don't think there is any more serious subject than the return of Jesus Christ.
As a Christian, I am thankful someone is writing books that stir people to think about their eternal destiny. Yes, the books are fiction, and, to that end, are entertaining and take some creative liberties. I don't believe anyone knows exactly what the tribulation period will bring, but I do believe scripture is clear on Jesus' return and our need for Him as our savior.

For my money the bible has better writing, is more thought provoking, and much more entertaining.
The best bet is to read it, and decide for yourself.

No problem. You can disagree with me any time.

Nothing wrong with good discussion. But discussion about the end times as interpeted in the book are a diversion to what is important.

Here is were I would disagree. What is important is how you live your daily life. You should not be obsessed with the end times. It is not a road to follow as it is marketed today.

Ok
I agree with the points made by American Muscle.

To clarify, the books have been a tool for opening discussion about what God's word says about the end times and other things. We (the people at work) may not necessarily agree with the authors' interpretation, but it presents an opportunity to share the gospel with folks who may not know Jesus, but are reading the book series.

Let me change my statement: I don't think there is any more serious or important subject than Jesus Christ. In my original statement I did not mean to imply an obsession with the end times......sorry about that. I believe knowing and following Jesus should change how you live your daily life.
I will not say the book series is well written.......but I do not find it to be poorly written, either. Outside of one of the books, the series has kept my attention.
Hope that clarifies a few things!
