I got the new distributor installed and did my best to keep everything lined up from removal to installation. I still have the cranking but no start problem.
Could I have messed up the timing and not realized it?
Would the timing being messed up cause the truck not to start?
Could the PIP being bad mess up the ICM I recently installed?
Go buy and spark tester or make one from and old spark plug and hook it to the coil wire and ground the clip. Crank the engine and see if it is sparking.
OK... so I got a spark tester and had a buddy help me out.. He said there was good spark. I wondered if it would be a fuel issue so I picked up some starter fluid.. Sprayed a little into the throttle body... got a backfire but no start. I'm going to have to recharge the battery because i've killed it.. now it is barely cranking...
any other tests I should attempt? What direction should I go in?
I'll look into repairing that line.. When you say out of time... do you mean the timing is off because I screwed it up when installing the new distributor?
That is about it.
Without going back through this thread you do have fuel pressure with pin#6 grounded and you do hear the pumps run for one second when you turn on the key, do you not?

The pumps are good, there is spark, I tried starter fluid to see if it was a fuel issue... truck didn't start... I'll have to get a timing light and figure out how to do the timing... Learn by fire as they say....
Good news.... i finally got the distributor lined up right and got the truck started. now I just need to fine tune it and all should be good...
My question is....
i still need to finish putting the new plugs and wires on... Should i do this first and then mess with the timing or should i get the timing right now and then finish the plugs and wires?
