Just finished the restoration of a set of 5 slot mags. I spent countless hours sanding and polishing them. Started with a light blast with glass bead followed by hand sanding 220,400,600,800, 1000 and 1500. Two trips around with polish sealer.
The centers were wet sanded with 2000 wet then polish, polish, polish.
Wow! Those really cleaned up nice. I have some Alcoas I'm working on, but they sat with road salt on them for about 4yrs so they are not in good shape! Nice job.
I'm doing a set myself. Mine were way worse than yours and it doesn't seem like I worked as hard to get the same results.
I rinsed off my wheels, wet sanded with 400 grit, then polished using Mother's billet polish by hand. The polish is key. Mother's billet polish is expensive, but worth it. Here's before and after....
