Intermittent Tach

Hi guys.... I have been having an issue for the last couple of days. My tachometer has been working fine, then the next time I look at it, it's dead! Then it starts working again a few minutes later.
I was wondering if it works off one of the plugs on top of the tranny, or if I have a different issue? As always, I greatly appreciate any help! Thanks Bill

that problem for me was the veh speed sensor on top of the rear pumpkin. one, i think, 10mm bolt. un plug it, take out the bolt, wiggle out the sensor, and install the new (FORD) part. the two on the trans are the tss, towards the front, (turbine speed sensor) and oss, towards the rear, ( output shaft speed sensor). oil the oring when installing the new one. also use some dielectric grease on the plug.

Mine was doing what yours is and then the trans temp gauge was bouncing around and then WTS and a couple other lights would stay on. Talked to guys on here, Ford techs and other mechanics and it came down replacing the dash for me. No problems since.

Easy fix but a pain to trouble shoot.

Thanks guys for suggestions as to what it could be...... Probably gonna have to wait on the "fix'' as the coffer is kinda dry right now!
Its not hurting the trucks performance, nor do I think it will damage anything else, (or will it ?), so it's on the back burner for now! Wear and tear item have set me back a bunch last year!

Mine drove fine with the problem and in fact I made a 16 hour round trip and several shorter trips prior to fixing the problem with no issues.
