A4WD
01 expedition has the auto 4WD. It seems to kick in and be on everytime the roads are even just wet...(this is killing my gas mileage)...does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything you can do to override this???

I think it is very unlikely it is killing your gas mileage, A4WD it is generally only engaged for a second, and it doesn't stay engaged. That said, it also should not be engaging on wet roads "all the time". It should hardly ever be engaging on wet roads, if at all. It only engages if it senses wheel slip, so if your aren't stomping on it all the time, it really shouldn't be doing that. What are the driving conditions that are making this happen? What is the situation with your tires - are the all the same age? Tires with mismatched sizes will cause the system to think there is wheel slip as the rotational speeds are different.

You can do the brown wire mod, which basically is installing a switch to interrupt the power going to the forward clutch in the transfer case. As long as the switch is off the front drive shaft will never get powered.
