I must be old school
I was poking around on the truck again today and noticed there is no wheel well liner or anything stopping the crap from flowing up in the space between the bed and fender. I was shocked to note it was not there, wonder if anyone had any good reasons for the delete?

I would guess a penny-pinching thing. It makes it easier for me to clean the inner lips of the wells though. I usually give them a little spritz of waste oil before winter to help keep the salt at bay. Maybe its just a feel-good thing

I prefer without, if you live in an area where they use a lot of salt on the road in the winter it gets trapped between the liner and the actual wheel wells....any spots that salt get trapped are where you're truck will rot out first.
For rust preventative I use Fluid Film once a year, I bought my 2012 F150 too late to get it done before I got salt on my truck.....I hope my truck can stay rust free until spring.

I figured that Ford saw another opportunity to make a few more buck from people that like the add-on rear fender well liner. They are stay with new technology tradition. They charge you more for a truck that they left something off of and charged extra for the few people that wanted a fender well liner. What marketing!

Clyde, I found this on one of the other forums I read. The guys over there put silicone sealant around the edges to try to prevent the salt and other grime from getting caught in there.

Ford is very bold and will raise the price for what ever reason, they don't need the omission of wheel well liners to increase profits.
They haven't put rear wheel well liners on F150's since 2003.

Yeah, but I really have not needed to look under a truck for a while, my Excursion was good to me for a long time.
