Rust proofing

Hey guys, i'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1995 F150 truck. It's a shortbox regular cab 2wd with a 351W. The previous owner before me took incredible care of this truck and it's like showroom condition. It's never seen snow as it's been stored in a heated garage under a cover for the winter. This truck is mint and i want to do everything possible to keep it this way. Except i need to use the truck for the winter becuase i have no other wheels and no space for two cars or else i would cover up and park my truck and buy a cheap car for the winter. I need to know what the best way is to protect my new truck from rust bieng as the city uses salt and sand on the roads and i don't want rust to wreck the apearance on my truck. 99% of the older fords i see up here the back fenders are rusted out. I looked into a product called Krown but i couldn't find a shop around here that deals with that stuff except in Calgary which is 3 hours from where i live. Also thought about getting one of those counteract cathodic anode devices from crappy tire but after reading into them they are said to be useless. Could you guys give me some advice?

Most of the products out there deal with and depend on existing rust. The Crown treatment is said to prevent rusting, but I believe it needs to be done every year. Best thing to do is keep the salt cleaned off. A friend of mine is OCD about his truck and pulls the bed every year and repaints the frame. It's a 1989 and still looks brand new. There are specific body parts on any vehicle that are prone to rust just due to factory design.

Sewing machine oil in the rust prone areas & keep it clean . Rinse inside the fenders , under the hood ,the inside of the quarters ,ect . keep it oiled

I live in Western Canada, and have in the bodywork profession for roughly 15 years. Oiling can help much, but a lot of it relies on how u look after your investment (u want it to last as long as possible).Use a pressure washer for the underside of the truck and don't forget to get in the wheel wells and up in behind the bed sides (mud will get caught on top of the wheel well in between the two walls. Keep it clean when ever u have a chance and she'll love u for a long time. If dirt and mud is wet in behind the panels, it will rust. Eliminate any crap built up and u should be fine. Take note of any pockets underneath that trap mud, clean these regularly. Look at other Fords to see where they commonly have rust, (usually on top of the rear wells and Behind the wells. This will let u know where to clean regularly. I . With almost all of the vintage vehicles we restore we use a undercoating gun(under $20) with a quart can of rubberized undercoating that u can refill by getting a large gallon can (about $50 bucks).U also need compressed air.. I would strongly recommend using this "Rockergaurd" as the crap u buy in an aerosol can is not as thick as the "real" stuff. We go through this stuff as if it were beer. U can also pour into a cup and brush it on in tight areas. It is so worth it. Jack the truck up, and spray away. Turn the front wheels to each side so u can get it in the cracks and crevices and steering joints. I hope these tips can help u keep your baby looking sharp for years to come.
