spring swap

I have a 2001 Excursion 4x4 with the 7.3 PSD

I did the V code spring swap in the front and gained 1.5 inches. Can someone tell me the part numbers for the rear blocks that will give me 1.5 inches of lift in the back and the u-bolts, as well.

I've read many threads and find them confusing , as some blocks have the same part number for both sides; while others have a different part number for either side.

Thanks...

Ditto and new u-bolts are important along with proper torque.

Ben, I don't know about the loc-tite... These should be checked at 100 miles and again at 1000 miles and re-torque as needed.

Can't remember; but one thread, maybe not here, mentioned an f81z-5598-da. When I inquired at the dealer, they told me it was the same part number for either side and they couldn't give me the specs on those blocks. That made me stop and do some more homework, as I had read one, of many, of your postings which gave the same part numbers as LivingLarge. Also, LivingLarge is using those blocks on a v-10 model...if my diesel squats lower in the front than the v-10 and I add the blocks that are already a 1/2" inch higher in the back than I raised it in the front, then I am concerned about it being too high in the rear vs. the factory setup. Please bear in mind that I kept the factory rear springs.

Green, the part numbers I posted are for the F350 blocks.

Most everyone call it a 4" block. They are actually 3.75 inches.
Your stock block is 2 inches, therefore 1.75 inches of rear lift.

The V-codes gave me 2 inches of lift on my V10. On your diesel you should see 1.5 inches of lift.

So, the way I would calculate your Ex would be if I gain 1.5 inches up front and gained 1.75 inches in rear you would end up with a quarter inch more Rake than you have/had before the V's.

Quarter inch ( not much to worry about ). You can always throw a fat kid in the back!

Those are flat blocks, not tapered, that's why it's the same for either side.

In order to keep your driveshaft within proper pinion angle, it's highly recommended when doing the V code B code upgrade, that people use only the tapered blocks.

As far as the Loc-tite my procedure called for it and even with the Loc-tite on re-torquing wasn't an issue. Later I even went with a higher tappered block with longer u-bolts and I didn't have any problem getting the nuts off. maybe it was bad loc-tite :-). We got our custom made blocks from Newton Lifts & Suspension and they helped determine the height and taper etc based on front end height. They come with new u-bolts for $139.95. Very nicely made. 603-591-0531 Our EX drives so much better now.
