Hey guys....so i noticed over the past week or so that when i drive to work in the morning i will get a large amount of blue smoke out of the tail pipe after i have been driving for about 15 minutes....while that smoke is coming out the exhaust is making a fluttering type noise that seems to be coming from the dpf area....the blue smoke only lasts for about 3 minutes of driving....i checked my oil which isnt due for a change for another 2000 miles...the oil level was over the full mark and was really dirty...almost black in color....the coolant fill resovoir is a little low.... trying to put all the facts together....gonna bring it to the dealer monday.... but do you guys have any thoughts?...any help is much appreciated!!....thanks!
mine is doing the same thing since the latest flash was installed. but next wednesday its all over it will have a H@S XRT PRO and a dpf/cat delete installed. the reason your oil is high is during the regen cycle fuel get past the rings and delutes the oil. my dealer specializes in diesels and they are replacing engines right and left some under warranty some not. their suggestion is dpf delete with h and s tuner to keep codes from being thrown. I will run the lowest tune because I want reliability not more power.
I'm going to do the exact same change...xrt and dpf delete...i don't know if i can get away with deleting the cat in massachusetts because of inspection
And why isn't the dpf part of that inspection also?
Added: Colorado, California, New York, Nevada, and Utah have diesel emission inspection and look for tampering. Wisconsin and Tennessee check through OBD II port but no visual check for tampering. Your state may have diesel emission testing in high populated areas.
i figured i would... but i actually made some phone calls and found a place that will "overlook" it since they do all these "off road" upgrades and installs....but i guess worse comes to worse id have to put it back on
so i took the truck to the dealer... they said they are going to replace the fuel coolant pump.... i think thats what they said.... im having them do it next monday so ill know what the part(s) are for sure.... does this sound about right to anyone as the probable cause to my issue?
i am very interested in what your dealer says--
my truck is doing this as well as other issues. i noticed smoke yesterday am but last night it went into regen and smoked out everyone behind me and sounded like it was coming apart as i merged into traffic smoked for 5 min. this am i noticed smoke within the first 10 min of drive time then nothing till 1/2 hour in when it smoked everyone out behind me. ...
