HELP!?!

Have a darn 03 Dually F350 in my yard and it is driving me nuts. We bought this thing out of Florida (that'll teach me) and it won't start unless you keep it plugged in all the time. Even when it's 100 degrees outside! What is going on? It runs fine once you get her started. But getting her started can be a real, you know. Please help.

You need to check your GPR (glow plug relay) to make sure it is working. Do you crank the engine as soon as the WTS light goes off in the dash?

Welcome to guzzle's Stancor GPR replacement Mod Web Page

If after replacing the GPR it still doesn't work, you'll need to replace your glow plugs....

Riffraff Diesel: Motorcraft Glowplugs

You'll need 8 of them....

Insure all the GP stuff is working first. Do have a way to perform a Buzz test, or see live data? How many miles? How many miles on the oil? First thought is possibly worn injectors...

Ya know, I start my truck all the time without waiting on those glow sticks to kick in, and its 35 here alot. I don't know if i'm just lucky or what, but I don't do the "wait to start" till its really cold. I know they get hot after a few seconds (not sure what the worm up time is) but I think there's something else goin on if he can't get it started when its 100 out. I'm prolly wrong here.

If it's 100* outside & it wont start I dont think it would be a glow plug issue. What oil are you running in it ?

How long do you have to keep it plumed up before it cranks. 30 minutes 1 hour, two hours or longer?

When was the last time you changed the oil? What does the oil Pressure gauge do when you start?

How many miles on the truck?
Sounds like the injectors are done.

I'd also agree with the glow plug people.

if you don't mind me asking, where are you located? From all your posts it sounds like you need a good ford mechanic and there might be one close to you to help you out with all your troubles. You know, get stuff done right the first time and all.

I "try" and start it as soon as the glow plug light goes off. I rean it dead the other night trying to start the dang thing.
I wondered myself how it could be a glow plug prob, since it won't even start when it's 100 outside.
An hour or so of plugging in usually works. Although I don't think I have tried it until atleast that time.
140k miles, maybe 200 on the oil.
Rotella oil.
I'm outside of Lubbock TX, there is strokers plus to take it to, the problem is having someone to drive me there, and getting back home.
