Anyone already make good solid winch bumpers for the 73-79 F250's? Searched and all I can find on here is ones that people have already made. If I need to, I will CAD one out have the material cut for me, and I will weld it up. But, I really don't like how great my welds look in the end. Although I could cut it to where the welds would all be in the inside. Never tried fabbing that much.
CAD out your design and have a local welding shop build it, when it comes to bumpers (protection and strength when towing and pulling chebby's out) a quality design/build/weld job is important.
Also the welding shop might have a few ideas, ck with your local 4x4 Off Road business (if you have one) for some recommendations on where to go.
See about adding a slide in receiver place in the front to?
warn factory bumpers for the 70's models are getting hard to find. depending on the area of the country sometimes you find one on craigslist but i've been looking for one almost 6 months and havent found it yet. finally just built one myself. problem with those, they are usually a lot heavier than the warn bumpers.
You could make your own and just get it tacked good enough to move around. Then take it to a good welding shop to have it welded together, probably wouldn't cost all that much.
Recently took a 90s model f350 winch bumper and put it on a 79 bronco without changing anything just had to use 2 plates for mounting. Doesn't flow greatly with the body style of a 79 but did look pretty good.
Thanks for the info. Looked into it some. Going to sketch some ideas up and see what it will cost for a full fab job. Most likely going to build it myself and have my friend who is a welder get it together for me.
Hunteroffroad.com Is a custom fab shop near me that came highly recommended to me though some old colleagues.
I like the Warn look. I am going to keep it plain, and almost military in design. Nice and heavy. I don't really like the grill and headlights being covered with tube either.
