I hear you. I've only run a HV pump once on an over hauled roller 302 (not rebuilt, just replaced the mains and rods) never had issues with the cam gear pin because of it. Used HV pumps on two 400's, again, no issues with the cam gear pin. With a full rebuild, I'll go with a std pump or a high pressure std pump (for FE's)

Fair enough (and a local guy over here has a hot FE in an aussie falcon-very nice). And honestly once I started belting the thing the right way it wasnt that hard, I think the modified cam bearings with smaller holes and the oil gallery mod by TMeyer has a lot of merit. There are two oil gallery lines to the front main and it involves blocking one off so it has more chance to go somewhere else. Very noteworthy.

I'll have to remember that if I ever do another. I did mine back before TMI really got started.

yes it was typical, I had an issue with the shop telling me what bearings I would need to suit the crank grind and then didnt have to take so much off, so the bearings I ordered didnt fit but diodnt tell me, found out when the crank didnt drop in-not happy. I would have had the engine together a week or so sooner so I wouldnt have even thought about it, but as it was I had the crank in and checked and it was spinning nice so I wasnt going to do the oil gallery mod (but did think about it for a sec). Way to far gone to do the cam bearings but as it was when I got them from Tim they were all squashed and out of round. For 20 bucks or so it wasnt worth worrying about. If i'd ordered those special bearings he does I would have been P@#$$ed!!

Nothing like government employees to screw up perfectly good parts. Ship an anvil that distance and it would probably arrive broken in half.

I missed the part where he said the U S Mail carried the bearings.

Who-ever Tim used to get them over the ditch to here. Can't remember who it was but like I said pick your battles. That one just not worth it. If the pistons had taken a hit........

That's probably a good assumption as USPS priority mail would be the cheapest way to fly it over there. But government employees by and large have a sometimes well deserved reputation for this kind of thing. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"........................nine of the most terifying words ever known to come from man's mouth....................
