Now truck has 157000 on it and original joints, just replaced sway bar bushings and end link bushings they were shot. Just got some bad **** rims and tire guy said ball joint were tight . I have been under truck looking everything looks good, any suggestions .
HEY Dave havent Heard from ya in a few you must be Busy Feast or Famine Right
I would have thought that the tire guy would have found it
I used to get a clump everytime it would rain it was under warrenty so let the dealer have it they found a loose bolt on a stabilizer linkage I beleive
Thats great milage on them BJ
I cant hardly check them with the Tire on my tires are to big to have to overcome the tire weight
I know a good suspension guy can tweek it just right with a bar to check them with the tire On
Hey Benny yea been busy and also been cutting up my jeep grand cherokee going to build a rock crawler so been on pirate 4x4 forum and jeep forum learning how to build and mod. My buddy thinks its the leaf spring bushings making the noise. guess i am going to have to dig a little deeper.
Tyler i looked at them last time i was under there and they looked dry and normal. And had it locked in pulling my dump trailer out of someones back yard and no noise then , seems like its just on the road running.
Mine clunks when i hit potholes or sharp edged bumps. Ball joints are tight. Almost sounds like a wore out shock bushing, but theyre tight to. Hope you find it on yours, itll probably point me to my issue.
Have you changed the shocks with aftermarket units? If so check the metal gromets the bolts go through and see if there is any play , my aftermarket shocks required different size bolts stock bolts were to small. You said the roll bar bushings were replaced ,with stock unit or aftermarket , the kit I bought had the same problem with bolt size.
Wulfman, did you ever find the source of this noise?
My excursion has developed a similar noise coming from front passenger side...only when going over bumps.
What's one man's clunk is another man's clink. That said, i had a clunk/clink in the front of the truck that seemed to evidence itself when we went over potholes or other changes in the surface of the road. It turned out to be the front stabilizer links and they were replaced under my Ford extended warranty with Ford parts. If I had done it myself, I would have upgraded to MOOG heavy duty greaseable links.
