They are awesome. Mine were bolted to crossmember holding center bearing on a CC 4x4. Yes they will get attention of passengers, windows up you will be ok........ But if you do as most wire them to a hidden button would be cool. After wife found out, daughters tell me she is using it more than me! Going through tunnels you will be compelled to hit them.....just saying,
It's like sitting at the train tracks and hearing the train horn with your windows up. Or, like it sounds when a peterbilt blows at you when you're right next to him.
It all depends on were you mount the horns on my 350 I had no room to mount them up front on the bumper. I have mine mounted to the frame rail under the bed of the truck and had to face them towards the rear of the truck . They are load as crap if you are out side but in the cab they are not that load specially if you are driveing down the roud at 65-75mph. I have mine wired up to the oem horns to so when you hit the horn both go off in my old truck I put a switch on the floor behind the E brake so they were seperated . My truck has pretty good sound deading material in it I guess at least that what I tell my wife but she says I'm just deaf.
I'm really interested in this, there have been so many tiny Jetta's and what not cutting me off lately andso wait so long to go that they jump almost right infront of me and i nearly hit them...would be nice to give them a little jump when they decide to cut me off (after they are already driving straight..dont want to cause and accident lol)
Ok, I think ill look into it. I would like to get the full set up for about $300, but Im not sure that + quality is realistic.
Maybe ill just tell the wife its just an air compressor, no horn, then just watch my trigger finger with ehr in the truck >:-}
I've got horns mounted directly to the frame rail under my 250. It's noticeably louder inside the cab but not deafening. Outside - that's a different story. It tends to make the passengers 'jump' out of their seats if I honk it without a warning.
Well worth it.
Same here, when I honk mine it actually makes the concrete driveway vibrate under my feet!

Just wondering!
Yes you can be liable, the way to avoid it is dont hang around!!!!
I want one, but can't part with the $$$ for a toy that will rarely serve any purpose. That said, I wished I had one of these about a month ago. A city bus had just let a bunch of people off and some jack wagon punk decided to stop three lanes of traffic to cross the street at his own leisurely pace. As he walked in front of my stopped truck, I was thinking how he would have reacted to a 150db horn blast.

I've had a Nathan P5, dual compressors, and 13 gallons of air in 2 tanks under my truck for for years. The main thing that has impressed me most over the years is how UN-impressed other drivers are by having a train horn blown at them. Unfortunately, it also sounds like sitting at the tracks with the windows rolled up in their car as well. However, it IS fantastically loud to be outside when when somebody pulls that handle!
I was looking around, and found this horn on Ebay. Its almost as strong as the train horn with 139 dB and not much extra work required to get it to fit. Maybe some of you guys would prefer this over something where you have to buy the compressor and other stuff to make it work.
