6.0 problems...

I have an 03 F250 6.0L with a 5R100W transmission. The truck was purchased used(with pretty much no idea of it's history but ran good and had little or no rust on it. It now has approx 240K miles. Within the past year it has had the Injectors replaced, EGR delete and Tune. Recently the HPOP and the FICM were replaced(Nov 2011). And at the end of December the Trans fluid and filters were changed. A couple of weeks ago the check engine light came on and the tranny went into limp mode. Scanning for codes we got a P2138 and P2140. I came here on the site and did a search for those codes and found a post where the person intially thought there was a problem with the APP but eventually found a problem with the MAP sensor hose being partially plugged. So we checked and ours was too. We cleaned the hose and tube where it goes into the intake and then ran the truck again. The truck seemed to run a little better but still went back into Limp mode and threw another code which I'm not sure of the number but it was for the MAP sensor itself this time. So we replaced the MAP sensor and now the truck runs fine but the Trans is still in Limp mode. The truck has the $500 Adustable pedal other wise I would have considered replacing that also. If we scan it now with our scanner (Actron CP9580) there are no longer any codes coming up but it just keeps going back into limp mode. Any Ideas? Time to visit the tranny shop?

You could try to "re-learn" the tranny by unhooking both batteries. Turn on your headlights to make sure all the capacitors get drained. That will take the tranny back to a default strategy. It will re-learn you driving style after a period of time...this is assuming there is nothing wrong with the tranny. Not sure what you can/can't see with the Actron CP9580...so I'm not sure if it's showing all codes or only common chassis codes. Maybe someone else that has worked with one will chime in shortly.

If it's in limp mode there is a code, take it to a dealer or shop with the proper scanner it could be as simple as a imput or output sensor.

the guys have a point, but i'd try zhilton's suggestion first. if it dont work, then take it to a transmission shop.

unhook both batteries and turn on headlight switch to fully drain it. after a few minutes, normally i'd leave it for bout 20 mins cos i'm paranoid, then hook everything back up, start car, and everything should be reset. drive around to see if anything else is weird.

nothing by then? then ur good. best of luck!
