Oil Pressure Light

It has not done in the past or least I haven't noticed..My gauge on oil pressure normally slightly low...on N or O of the wordtruck normal..I have a 351m...I know they are notorious for low pressure...but when I sit at a red light for a couple mins...my oil pressure gauge drops past L as if the truck is off...then when I press the gas it slowly goes up to its normal resting place...what's this mean?

You could try putting a mechanical gauge on to see where your oil pressure is really at. Might just be a failing sender.

I agree with sticking a mechanical gauge and see what exactly you have. Stock gauges are very unreliable and no sense trying to trouble shoot until you know what kind of pressures you have.

X3 on a mechanical gauge. My factory gauge would read normal at cold start and then quickly head down to nothing on my 351m. I thought I was screwed but after reading over and over again on this site not to trust the factory gauge I finally got a mechanical one installed and my oil pressure is actually fine. 20psi hot idle 40psi at 40 MPH etc. Do yourself a favor and don't stress about this until you have checked it with a mechanical gauge.

You really do need to install a mechanical gauge to understand where your oil pressure really is at. "Between the N and the O" is purely qualitative. No one can say how many PSI that actually is.

Get a threaded "T" fitting that goes in and before the before the factory sending unit (so you can still run the factory one) and that hooks a oil line directly to your aftermarket gauge. Brand is your call...

And some power to light the gauge at night when the park/head lights are on, and its not permanent by no means.
