A 2nd alternator was available as optional equipment from the factory.

Lots of reasons - winches, lots of stereo power, snow plow, lots of lights, etc.

Is it impossible, or a major pita to make a single system a dual one? I have alot of stuff in my truck that likes power.

Its pretty rare to see a 6.0 with dual alternators even today very very few 6.7 trucks are ordered with them.

Just for curiousity, could you post a picture of your engine with them
Does anybody know if they use a single regulator between both or does each have it's own regulator ? Do you still have two batteries, or more ?
Thanks

It's really not practical(wire harnesses, pcm, etc..) Best thing to do is get a DC Power alternator.

What is the warranty on the dc power? And do you remember how much it costs? Thanks

Agreed. MUCH easier to upgrade the alternator and associated wiring than go through swapping over to dual alternators.

Unless really necesary, for equipment, I'd rather have the single alternator. Easier to work on, easier to trouble shoot and cheaper when parts are needed.

You know what they say? TWO alternators are better than one.
To the OP, count your blessings, as others have already informed you, the dual alternator option is relatively rare on these trucks. Almost as rare as manual transmission equipped models.
