Hey guys i don't have a lot of time to check where my 7.3 1994 powerstroke is leaking from. It is pretty bad like have to add more oil every week. I have noticed it seems to be leaking in two different spots, any idea where to start looking for the cause. I also know these 7.3's are bad for having oil leaks but i can't afford to keep butting oil in every week.
Alright i will give that a look tomorrow, but it seems like two places one almost right under the engine the other is maybe a foot behind the engine. It is spilling a lot and seems to drain more if i have been running it for a while.
It's more than likely coming from the valley. You're gonna need to get in there and clean it up and see if you can pinpoint the leak. Leaks in the valley run down the passengers side of the motor in the rear as there is a hole in the back of the motor valley.
HPOP orings, turbo pedestal orings, ebpv rod, few of the places that can be leaking oil up top. I'm gonna guess the turbo pedestal with the amount you're adding and you're description
It took me several days to find mine. I keep cleaning it up with brake cleaner and degreaser until I found it. It was on the front top of the motor. I changed HPOP and didn't get the access plate sealed where you get to the big bolt on the gear that turns the HPOP. Anyway, it was coming down in the rear. It ran down the front cover passenger side to the top of the oil pan lip and then it ran back to the rear of the motor. Go figure, it drove me half nuts thinking that my rear main seal was bad. My point in all this is you have to clean, clean and clean until you find the leak.
^^^ x2. I had a slight leak at the IPR combined with a fuel leak in the Fuel Bowl lines, had me thinking it was the rear main until I spotted it while standing on my head using an inspection mirror. Good Luck! I have heard once it is dry, you can place a clean rag or shop towels in the valley and see where the leak is originating from.
I failed to mention that my valley was dry this whole time I was looking for the leak. I have electric fuel and my valley is wide open. Really had me confused there for awhile. With the oil running down the passenger side I knew it wasn't the oil cooler. If the oil would have ran to the drivers side I probably would have assumed it was the oil cooler.
