Old or what?

Is it just old age or has the writing gotten smaller?
I find I need more light and maybe soon a magnifing glass to read the ingredents on a list on a jar. Turing 50 in a couple of years. What happens at 60?

I think it must be everything looks smaller because you have to hold it an arm length away to be able to see it. You know it's bad when you need a flashlight to read what the buttons say on the front of the VCR. Or you need a flashlight and a magnifying glass to read the serial numbers off of stuff at work outside in broad daylight. The last time I tried to take the eye exam at DMV without glasses they said, "Mr. horsepuller, do you wear glasses?" "Please put them on." But at least the one good thing about losing your sight as you get older is you can't see all the hair that's starting to grow out of your ears.

They say the eyesight is the third thing to go. Memory is the second thing, and I can't remember what was first.

Old or what?

I had my vision checked for a job about 15 years ago. I was 20/15 in one eye and 20/12 in the other. In the last couple years I have noticed I can't focus nearly as close as I used to. Makes it difficult to stick your head in a piece of equipment and read part numbers and serial numbers off components. My Mom had great eyesight until she turned 40 and needed glasses. Looks like I'm right on track for glasses at 40 myself.

OK, this works for me......

Take off your glasses for an hour every evening, and focus at things the best you can at a distance (across a room), then focus on things nearer to you. Do this for 15 minutes, then rapidly move your eyes around for a couple of minutes, then look at the distant object again. Then focus nearer, etc etc..

After 4 weeks of doing this the noticeable deterioration of my sight lessened, to the extent of needing a weaker prescription. My close focus got better, and my distant has not decreased in 2 years of exercising my sight. ( I no longer need reading glasses, and now sit farther away from the computer)

Give it a try, it works for me.

Theo,

I have heard of something called the "See Clearly Method" which I understand has several useful vision improving exercises. Has anyone used it and what did you think?

After all the eye injuries I've had and with old age rearing its ugly head, A year ago I had to finally give to being conquered and purchase of of these doohickey's.

An 4X illuminating magnifying glass that's about 4" in diameter.

It only cost $6.00 but it is worth 5 times that now.
