OT: The Derelicts of ICON
I love iron, older iron more than newer iron. I particularly like the lines of 1950's - 1970's vehicles and the memories it stirs of of my childhood/teenage years. Then again, I sure like the reliabilty and dependability of the newer iron too! I have a Nova SS that is gorgeous and fast, but you could never drive it every day because you would worry about the vehicle every time you parked it and drove it.
So what is the point Neal?
I ran across The Derelicts of ICON film which just flipped me out...build a car which you could drive every day and was a sleeper...people might actually think you are down and out driving it.
Maybe like this Desoto or this Chevy ?
So check this out and see what you think...The Derelicts of ICON!.

That was a really cool video, thanks for sharing. I am familiar with ICON, I have been a Land Cruiser fanatic since before I was able to drive, and I now buy, restore and sell them. ICON makes some amazing Cruisers, and now makes ****** versions too. I actually got to drive a diesel Icon FJ40 a few years back. I worked for The duPont REGISTRY and Tom duPont owned one (as well as many other awesome cars) and I had to drive it from the showroom outside to a parking lot. I totally get what the ICON guy is doing with the Derelicts. That "patina" is highly sought-after these days. I have seen pre-war Bentleys that had a $150k Concours level restoration, worth $330,000 sitting next to another one that didnt run, covered in rust, upholstery torn and tattered, valued at $300,000. Once it is restored, it can never be original again.

I love Chevy II's My First car was a 72 Nova, I loved it and miss it, Dad thought it was too fast for me and sold it out from under me. I would love to have it back. I would love to have a 66 or 67 Nova and keep looking at Craigslist for a cheap project car. They are getting harder to find...

Nice find Neal. Someday I'd like to freshen up my '64 Falcon convertible with a 32 valve aluminum V8 with a 6 Speed like the one in my Boss 302. I don't drive the Boss just anywhere as I'm still pretty paranoid about door dings, so it'd be nice to have the performance in the Falcon style! Plus the Falcon's paint isn't too far off from that Desoto...
My dad just sold his '32 Chrysler coupe that would have made a fine candidate for a Derelict. Too bad he's restoring his other cars.

There's a pic of that Chevy in Hot Rod this month. IIRC, HR said they painted that 'patina' - but I see in video they didn't! I like Rod's and old factory-stock cars/trucks as well as monster trucks, mud boggers, lowriders and rock crawlers. Any form of 'gearhead' is cool to me!!!
