need help

Okay so my truck wouldn't start, figured out it had something to do with the starter, I dropped my starter and came to find out all of my wires down there were taped together. I got all of the tape off and I have one thick cable coming down to basically a post kind of thing, then at the post 2 cables run off of that to the starter. It just seemed a little wired to me. Is that how its suppose to be or does that seem rigged? The cables are mangled so I'm gonna be replacing them anyways but just wasn't sure if there's something I can eliminate.

What ever it is it is not stock. Can you post a pic of it?
You should have one heavy gauge wire direct from battery positive to the big terminal on the solenoid on the starter and then a lighter gauge wire from the fender mounted relay to the small terminal on the starter solenoid.

Thanks bud I took the extra stuff out and she started right up, I do have to get a new solenoid though, I had to bypass the solenoid on the inside wheel well to start it
