Measuring coilovers?"
Ok, this may seem dumb, but im a lil confused. Im going to 3 link, and fo king coil overs. No leafs or anything.
So basicly, from axle to shock mount, i need atleasy 35" that would be eye to eye. Do u measure these kings like that? All the way extended eye to eye, or do you measure spring length, and and in shock body? Like i see all these 18" kings on craigslist, but they look long as hell like double. Are the measuring just the springs ?
Also, is there any general rule to setting up coil overs? I got a 94 f250 7.3 zf5. Did the 1 ton 60 swap in the front, factory leafs. My plan is to get rid of the leafs, 3 or 4 link and just run coil overs. Not sure about the back yet, but id want that set to hold more weight. Iv seen some of these kings with 2 sets of springs, divided in the middle, is one softer then the other? Any help is a ppreciated! Thanks folks

I highly suggest reading more information on this subject before continuing.
Ride hight, vehicle weight, intended use and type of suspension you build all play a big part in coilover selection. Get your cog height, weight and angles calculated before ordering coilovers. Its pretty unlikely to buy something off Craigslist that is both the right length and right spring rate for your particular build.

36" long exrended? How much are you lifting this thing? or how much travel are you wanting?
The 2 different springs do have different rates. Usually a much softer one on top and a stiffer one at the bottom.
Again...prepare yourself for what youre jumping into. This is not an easy project for anyone under a shade tree with a 90 amp harbor freight mig welder. Its an exact science that requires precise measurements and a good working knowledge of the physics involved in suspension geometry.

Oh iam aware this is a mission, im a pro welder so no worrys with an esab 250 220v 25/75. Whats the best way to go about this. ? My lift now is about 8". And i wanted to atleast have that, and be able to go higher possibly. I was going to get the coilovdrs off craigs if i can find some, and then order springs. Is there a general rule for springs and weight?
He already told you the best way to go about it, get on pirat4x4 and research, research, research until your eyes are about to fall out, and then go research some more. Then if you still have questions, search again and again. Then, maybe, you can make a thread about it over there. And usually when they say '18"' they mean the amount of travel.
