Stacking carburetor spacers?

I have a 4160 Holley bolted to a stock 4bbl C5OE manifold on a mildly built 302. This carb sits on top of the factory aluminum spacer, but the carb gets plenty of heat soak. I am kicking around the idea of adding another plastic 1" spacer on top of the stock aluminum one to cut down on heating and perculation to the carb. Assuming I use gaskets between each spacer, and longer carburater mount bolts can this be done? In other words can a person stack spacers? The reason I would like to keep the aluminum one is for the PCV port. This is in a '56 F-100 so room under the hood won't be of a concern.

Normally the phenelic spacer used for heat soak is only 1/4-3/8" thick. I see no problems with what you're doing.

That does look interesting LX! Are you running a kit like that, and do you like it?

Increasing carb height will also improve throttle response (low/middle rpm range).....We use to build heat cheilds (just like in the pic) out of aluminum or galv metal....that is really a true heat shield that will work.

Would this function as a heat shield as well?

Its like this.....

Lets say you are in aroom where the heater is set at 110 degrees.....
the closer you move to a open window, you get a little cooler air but you are still hot, but if you move out of the room into the hallway, you don't feel the heat because there is now a wall inbetween you and the heater.

...is better in that the fuel bowls on a 4150/4160/4180 hang out in the wind and will absorb more under hood ambient heat. This is the first step.
