I think he only lists in the superduty section but it will fit on excursions.

Cool

OK. Another thing to watch out for when buying a new-to-you X. Found three blown fuses in my "tow relay" box by the air filter. All the towing fuses are apparently located there and not under steering wheel. Trying to pull a trailer and had one blinker and one brake light at night....not good after dark! This was my first attempt to tow with it, so PO blew those fuses.

How does that exhaust setup sound? Can you post a sound clip? Idle, revs, WOT drive-by.

I do have a clip...I will try to post it today. It might be kinda long, though. I walked around the truck and then drove it around the block for interior sound as well (around the block where I live is over the hill and through the woods ). Did it both before and after the FTE resonator so I would be able to tell the difference. Oh, what a difference! The Walker was pretty quiet, but the FTE takes the cake...

Yes, Stewart.....I eventually found out it is a valve body bolt. I found the hole in the valve body that it escaped from. Talked to my brother, and he said, in his years at the dealership, it was not uncommon to find these attached to the magnets. There was clutch material on the magnet, but no metal larger than the tip of a pen. Bro states since that is the case, just put the bolt back in its home and keep on truckin'. If there had been any larger pieces in there, he would have recommended a rebuild.

He says the folks on the assembly line probably just missed a torque on a bolt when this thing was put together. I was more than a little worried when I found it...

This post makes me think twice about replacing my magnet drain bolt with a Fumoto valve!

Me, too! I was looking at fumoto valves the day before I switched out the pans....but, I did take someone's advise and harvest the big donut magnet and toss it in the new Derale tranny pan.

So Im working through my new-to-me 01 7.3 4x4...and I am trying to specifically address the steering wander at the moment. came across your thread here and i thought i would chime in. My wife refuses to drive it as is...so I need to get this right.

The PO did what he could with the wander, but didnt seem to eliminate it. He did the following:

Redhead box
dual steering stabilizer
all new tie rods and tie rod ends
replaced passenger ball joints (didn't do driver, they will be done next week as preventative maintenance)
new OEM front springs with add-a-leaf (by new i mean brand new, still with the sticker on them)

I just put in a hellwig sway bar last night and don't notice much of a difference.

I haven't checked the front sway bar bushings yet, but the PO had anything replaced that needed it, so i am assuming they are good.

Im down to 3 things.

1.) Adjust redhead box... it does feel like there is too much movement in the steering wheel before the tires actually start to move. not sure though if a redhead box needs adjusting.

2.) replace shocks. It looks like bilstein HD, rancho 9000xl are the ones to get (dont have a lift so 5100 wont work). currently, there are white shocks on there. i think ford uses black shocks, so maybe these were already replaced? only 98500 on the ticker.

3.) swap out new OEM springs for V codes. I would think that with new springs, this wouldnt be a problem. i could understand worn out springs and then replace them with v-codes. maybe my logic is wrong and it doesnt matter they are new, its the spring rate of the v-codes that make a difference?

anyway... i appreciate any input.
