Free mud flaps!!!
The local custom shop moved to a new location and they are running a $125 detail special as a grand reopening thing. Anyway it includes inside and out, claybar all that. I asked about the Excursion and they asked me how bad it was inside, I said inside is not the problem so they were ok to book it.
At any rate... they stay on until I find a better solution. Mud flaps are a biggie around here. They have an amended verbiage now specifically about lifted trucks without mudflaps.
Vehicle Equipment Advisory | Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles
I don't want to get hassled by local PD for no reason. Where I live it is sort of a "tri-city" area with three different police forces, but the "tri-city" area is smaller than what most people would think of as a normal size city.
A wide range of after-market vehicle equipment is readily available to the consumer, however; not all of it is legal. Although many vehicle equipment items are lawful to sell, they are not legal when placed on a vehicle. This means you could be ticketed for operating a vehicle with illegal after-market equipment and your vehicle could be subject to rejection during a Vermont State Inspection. Here are some of the items to be aware of:
After-market equipment placed on, in or in front of any lamp (except transparent covers which are part of original manufacturer’s equipped headlamps)...i.e. – smoked or colored light covers, etc.
Any after-market lamp failing to have the letters DOT horizontally or vertically on the lens
After-market undercarriage glow light(s) placed on or under the vehicle, whether flashing or steady burning
After-market license plate glow light(s) placed on a vehicle, whether flashing or steady burning
Any additional auxiliary or after-market light(s) not designed to enhance safety and have not been approved by the Commissioner, are placed on or in the vehicle, whether flashing or burning
Any additional after market lamp showing a color contrary to law…i.e. – blue, green, etc.
Window tinting to the immediate left or right of the driver’s position
Windshield decals
Tires in which the tread portion exceeds the fender well
After-market exhaust systems causing excessive noise
Trucks with lift kits failing to have mud flaps
Hanging items from the rearview mirror
Smoked or tinted license plate covers

If you ever get hassled I would like to know how many people they have pulled over or ticketed for having an air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror? By the regulations something that simple is illegal. I feel for you having to deal with all of that. At least you are informed enough that you are trying to stay within the law (stupid as parts of it are). Good Luck and keep fighting the good fight!

I do need a bumper relocation bracket for these 37" tires, they can hit the front bumper on turns, even with the blocker beam gone.

With the 315s the big rig flaps are a no go. Plus I ripped one off and tore the inner fender rubber all apart doing a reverse hill climb. All fixed up now though.
We found out that I ripped the front sway bar links off the other day off roading, added some big *** washers, won't happen again.
