Hi,
I have an 03 F-250 4WD I live on a long, private, unpaved road. My problem is that I’m always throwing grit and mud onto the body of my truck behind the wheels even if the road is only slightly wet. I think I only have two options, mud flaps or fender flares which I don’t really want to spend the money on at this point. Does anybody have mud flaps that they would recommend? I’m even thing about putting a set on the front if it won’t look too dumb.
Please help, my only other option is to move!
I had the same problem when it rained, dirt and mud on my running board. I order a set, front and back, from the dealership. Easy to install and has FORD on each one. Keeps the dirt off. Hopes this helps..
Oh the joys of living on a dirt road. Around here, almost every road outside the the city and town limits is dirt. I bought 2 rubber semi mud flaps and cut them down the middle with a utility blade. You can get them in 36 or 30 inches in length. Then I got some washers, nuts, and bolts. I used the existing holes in the sheetmetal and drilled one more hole in each wheel well through the plastic or hard rubber. All together it cost less than $12 for 4 long mud flaps. I mounted them so they hang about 2 inches from the ground on the front and 3 or 4 inches in the rear. This will keep all that stuff from hitting and sticking to your vehicle. However, if you drive on unpaved roads, when they are wet dirt is going to accumulate on your vehicle no matter what you do. Hope this helps
Thanks Guys!
I'll check out the Ford mud flaps. I kind of want to keep it looking somewhat factory looking.
jeb79- I hear ya about dirt getting on the vehicle no matter what I do. I'm just trying to limit it and keep it off alltoghether when I hit an ocasional mud puddle on an otherwise dry road.
