FTE Member's Map

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I was inspired by reading about some of you guys getting together to help and teach each other about our trucks. There used to be a service that groups and clubs could "map" their locations to see who lived in the same city or at least nearby or who lives the FARTHEST AWAY! I figured I could use Google's map sharing functionality to replace it.

If anyone is interested, here's the link and you I've made it editable by everyone so you can put in your city of residence and save it to the map.

This is a PUBLIC map so DO NOT PUT IN YOUR HOME ADDRESS!

FTE SuperDuty Member's Map - Google Maps

I've already put mine in. San Ramon, CA.

1. Click red "edit" button on the left panel.
2. Zoom to your location or as close as you would like to advertise on a public map.
3. Click on the "Add a Placemark". Make sure you label the Placemark with your User name.
4. Click on the "Done" button on the left.

You can always just put your location in your User CP (User CP, on the left side, click on Edit Your Details), like a lot of us already do! It shows over there on the right side, just above your post count.

Just an idea.

I get that but if you want to see who's around you and you don't want to have to sort through hundreds of user accounts looking for someone who may have put their location in their profile or you're more of a reader who doesn't have a 5000 post count people can find you and you can be found.

I'm going to add my forum name to my city on the map so people will know who's where.

Cheers,

I had to probe around to figure it out. Looks like you click the "add point" button, drop your point over your town and then add whatever you want it to say then save.

I am sure a google guru will be along to say I'm all wrong and guide you in the correct direction soon.

Click on the edit button and three buttons will show up in the upper left corner of the map click on then drag the add point button to your city, when you release it a box should open allowing you to edit your new point.
