Ok so i picked up my 05' F250 a couple months ago, and now that spring is around the corner I want to take care of the basic maintenance that I should take care of. I dont have an owners manual, so I am not sure what needs to be done. I am at about 66k right now, and I am looking at the truck thinking I have no idea what has been done, so I am going assume NOTHING has been done.
So I am thinking the following:
1) A fresh oil change and switch to 5w20 synthetic oil, I have been a fan of using K&N filter because of the welded on nut on the bottombut it sounds like most of you use the Motorcraft. I am getting a drop of oil running down the side of the oil filter so my problem my be the oil filter seal OR the gasket on I think its the oil cooler, or so I have read on here.
2) New Coolant, can I use the green kind or do I need to stick with the orange stuff? I am sure there is a reason the orange is in there.. And should I do a drain and fill or a full flush??
3) Trans fluid, drain and fill or a flush?? Should I do synthetic?? Also should I run a can of TRANS TUNE though it or anything??
4) Replace power steering fluid, should this happen now or should I wait?
5) Drain and Fill the transfer case, probably go with synthetic as well.
6) Replace the fuel filter and air filter. Go with Motorcraft for the fuel filter, and should I stick with the same for the air filter or should I get like a K&N filter??
Anything else you guys can think of??
The brake fluid I am going to wait on until I do my lift as I will probably do extended brake lines.. And the diff fluid should wait because I need to replace my axle seals as I am noticing a bit of leakage.
I would change the plugs and boots, too. Also clean the MAF. There's something you need to do after you clean it to avoid the stalling if you have the drive by wire. I don't recall what it was, but there was a recent thread on here.
