I have a 2008 6.4. I recently took it in for the hyperextended thermostat, I thought and pcm up date. The dealer could not find a leak, put in the pcm update and charged for the pcm update. Is it normal to be charged for the update?
My truck doesn't get up to 190 degrees after 20 miles of driving. No winter front on it now. What is the temp needed to go into closed loop?
TIA

Are you sure you didn't just get charged the diagnostic charge for the thermostats they checked that turned out to not be bad?
If my memory is right, at my age that's never a sure thing, there were a number of trucks that had those problems following the 11b23 flash. In response to that, ford issued a second letter for all so impacted trucks to receive an update flash to correct the updated flash. That's probably why you were waiting and it should be a simple reflash.
I thought the same. there is also a TSB after the first fuel filter change the same symptoms would happen. weird thing was the fix was to drive 5 miles repeating WOT to 45-50.

Once they read the code I can find out.
Stanley is right again. They reflashed and test drove it and said it was good. Sounds good...
