Based on claims of HFPF failures, the WIF light never came on for many. Service manual says "drain monthly or at oil changes." I drain mine monthly and get about 6-8 tiny droplets of water in about 10-12 oz of diesel. I keep the "evidence" in sealed mason jars in the garage, dated. Just for a little extra documentation.
Are you sure that they are water drops, and not air bubbles? Sometimes I get air bubbles, but not any water.

Air and water are very different in fuel. And easy to identify due to specific gravity. Water is heavier than fuel and will always sink to bottom. Air is lighter and always rise to top.

Unless the manual has changed, I have a 2011, the manual say's nothing about the monthly draining, only about when you get the WIF light. It is only mentioned on a separate sheet named "Ford 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Operating, Maintenance & Care Tips." Something that I don't even recall getting. You would think if it was that important it would be in the manual with other maintenance items and not a "tip".

That's where I was looking. If it's in yours let me know the page number, I can't find it in my 2011. Only if WIF light, nothing about monthly draining.
