What do you guys run in your tires as far as stock goes, I have 265/75R16 Load E and only thing I can find is that max is 80 psi, the truck plate says 50 and 55 psi but on D tires. I need to do somethings to better my mileage without going crazy with cash.
I air up to 80 for towing and run anywhere from 70 to 80 for everyday driving. With my spring swap and Goodyear Silent Armors it feels a bit squirrely down around 60 or so. You may not see a noticable MPG bump by going higher but technically it should provide slightly less rolling resistence. For me the best single thing I did to help MPGs was to instal an Ultra-Guage, it doesn't directly affect gas usage but it does keep you informed of what your right foot is doing and will help as you learn what works best. I do between 65 and 70 with the same size tire. Been doing that on the BFG Rugged Trails, Bridgestone Dueler Revos, and now the Michelin LTX M/S.
The BFGs on the '05 ran at factory pressures for maybe the first 10k or so, until I found my first Excursion forum that said to up them to about 65. It averaged about 10.8 mpg according to the trip computer for maybe 60% highway driving in the fall with it at sticker pressures, which they never updated for E range tires when they started putting them on at the factory.
I am at 65 front and 69 rear. The back is heavier on my Excursion so I have the rear slightly higher.
WE3, how does that gauge compare to the ScanGauge?
In my opinion the Ultra-Gauge is a better deal than the popular ScanGauge. It's half the cost and displays more info, the SG shows 4 data points at time (I think, don't have one) the U-G shows 6 data points at a time on each of 3 rotating pages 18 points total. (This is on the original model that I use, a new updated model now has way more pages and options, much improved, I'll be getting my unit updated soon.) The only disadvantage of the U-G vs the SC is the SG can read the trans temp and the U-G doesn't (yet...). Check out the website, it's a pretty cool little gizmo.

A quick Google search led me to basically exactly what you said. Any idea when it will be able to read the trans temp?
I run the 50-55 empty, 60/65 towing. I don't like the ride at the higher pressures empty myself, can't say I have looked that close to mileage to see if there is a difference. 65 gives me a load rating far in excess of what it's actually carrying.
Sorry for the thread hijack......
Don't really know when they may add the trans temp but it has been discussed on their forum a few times. Problem is points like trans temps are NOT covered as standardized OBDII codes like several other fuel and timing points, they are manufacturer specific codes so it adds some extra headaches for their software guys.

Ahh, I see. I'm going to have to get me one of these instead of a scangauge.

I had one when I first got my Ex. It didn't work properly with the 6.0.
I worked with their tech folks and eventually sold it to a friend and
bought the SGII. I have subsequently gotten email from Ultra-gauge
stating they think they fixed the problem - but I didn't have it anymore to
try it out.
Plus, it doesn't have the "X gage" feature to add new PIDS to monitor.
It's display was VERY nice though -for the gassers it's a good deal IMO.

Why would you need that? You know mileage goes down when the foot goes down and the truck already has gauges.
