They do seem to do quite well.. I am in the process of overhauling another 5.0 to go back in my 93 F-150 4-speed as the last deep freeze we had froze up the engine. Now it still runs, but smokes and chugs, and it has 216,000 miles on it.

I had a 5.8 in another rig of mine, and got rid of it quickly. With only 120,000 it was underpowered and I saw 12 mpg's consistantly, where with this 5.0, I at least get close to if not better then 20 mpgs. With the new 5-speed going in, it should be even better! I like the trusty old 302's!

As for miles on wheels, I work part time for a van service on an occasion, and they have gasser's ranging in mileage from 280,000 to 549,000 on the same engine and trans.. So my goal is the same for mine! LOL
