Given proper care and use, most ford windsor v8's can last well over 200,000 miles, and if the oil psi begins to drop more likely than not it is the main bearings, which seems to fail at 150,000 +/- miles on the windsor engine. Other than that it depends on the owner, later

yeah i have a 302 in my truck. It's got about 250,000 miles on it and still doesn't have a leak in it. It also has never been rebuilt. So depending on how you drive(hard or easy) you can expect a pretty long life in your 302.

the 4.9 will last forever if given routine maintenance but it doesn't have the power that the 302 has and my limited experience is that the 302 will get as good as or slightly better mileage, the 4.9 is a slower turning motor with good low end torque, it is very under powered from ford crummy exhausts and intake although the efi version is better , aftermarket support is poorand expensive.
