Procomp 22210/22415 Question

Hi, We'll I've finally got all my parts and hope to start doing the swap this Friday. I got the ProComp 22210/22415 springs along with Rancho 9000's. Found a lot of info on here about this set up however a little confused as far as do you have to remove the factory rear blocks or not. I want the truck to sit level when done. Also whats needs to be removed from the front to get the front bolts out of the leafs. Any info/pics from others who have done this would be helpfull and is there anything else I might need. I have the springs, shocks and longer front and rear U-Bolts. My new Tires came today so I hope that is all I need other then a few beers. Thanks. Truck is a 2003 Ex V10. 4x4

For those who don't feel like looking it up, thats the combination of procomp 4" front springs and 5" rear springs.

Based on other users who have used that combo, I think you will probably be able to pull the rear block and have it close to leveling out. I'm going with those same rear springs, and I have front V codes with a 2" add a leaf, and I'm planning on pulling my rear block. There is forum user on here who used that combo and I think he said his rear actually sat a little bit higher than the front after pulling the block, but I think he, like me, had a diesel. The v10 will sit a bit higher in the front due it being way lighter than the diesel, not having 2 batteries, intercooler, etc.

What are you going to do about all the hardware (bumpstops, trac bar drop, u bolts, sway bar ext, etc)?

I'm planning on going with either the skyjacker hardware kit for their 4" lift: Pro Comp Suspension Systems 52416B-1 - Pro Comp Suspension Lift Kit Components - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Or the procomp one, which is a little bit more for pretty much the same crap:
Pro Comp Suspension Systems 52416B-1 - Pro Comp Suspension Lift Kit Components - Overview - SummitRacing.com

You can probably get away without all of that stuff, but since that comes with their 4" kits I'm guessing they would recommend it!

For the front bolts some people had to pull AC compressor, some didn't... I can't remember which are which, but I think it has to do with which motor. The diesels are a larger motor and IIRC it was the 7.3 that needed the compressor pulled. Stick your head under there and eyeball the bolts, you should be able to tell real quick which way they come out and what is gonna be in their way. There is also the option of buying new bolts (they are pretty expensive, by the way) and just cutting the head off the old ones and taking them out by the nut (the easy way) and putting the new bolts in "backwards." I think some forum members have also done it this way when there is a significant impediment to removing the bolts. Beware, the factory bolts are pricey and you shouldn't use anything of a lesser grade.

what tires are you gonna run when youre done? take before/after pics!

I did this same lift in April 2010 and have been happy with the new look ever since. I highly recommend bigger tires, but its just a personal preference. I went with 315/75/16.

I have very little experience with vehicles and it took me and my neighbor approximately 9 hours to complete the spring installation in the driveway with a couple jacks and some strong jack stands. The total time did include two trips to a spring shop for new ubolts since I wasnt sure what size to buy ahead of time. The spring shop made the ubolts based on the existing ubolts plus however much additional length I needed.

As for installation, I dont remember the entire process, but I do remember finding a write up that someone else had done. Sorry I dont have the link to the write up. I definitely took off the front bumper. I dont remember having to remove anything up front. I did have to loosen the rear ac lines to get the bolt out of the rear passenger side spring. Highly recommend that you have some type of impact wrench/gun. I cant imagine how long it would have taken without it.

Hope the install goes well. Post pics when you're done.

Forgot to answer the question you had about the rear blocks. I removed the rear blocks and the ex now sits level. By the way, I have the V10.

I have the 22415's in the rear without the blocks with V's up front and am adding a 1.5" lift shackle to level it out. Sorry, I don't have any installation advice since I paid a shop $75.00 per spring for them to do it.

Well I started the project this afternoon. The problem I'm running into is that without the factory blocks the bolt holding the leaf pack together will not fit into the mount on the axle. Anyone out there who did this set up them selfs that can shed some light on my dilemma. I'm finished for today as I have to work Midnight shift tonight and will continue tomorrow afternoon to hopefully complete this project.

I remember having a little trouble getting that bolt to fit on the axle. I believe it just took a little effort to move the axle around until it fit in. It definitely fits though. At least mine did.

I kept the rear block on my procomp in the rear and remember having to use a make shift 'come along' with some ratchet straps to line up the axle and mounts ... I also tried the smaller tires - but within 24 hours had already slapped 35's on it - LOL

g/l and post some pics of the finished product
