I couldn't afford the insurance on a new 750 when I was 20 so I did the 600 and that bike was way more than enough for my riding ability. I rode a friends gsxr-1000....my god. The thing that amazed me with those bikes was that wether you were going 10mph or 150mph it was effortless to ride. I really miss my bike and don't think I can do a traditional bike quite yet. But I'd rather take one of those rockets to a track and really learn to ride rather than dodging the morons trying to take you out on the regular roads!!
I've never seen 150 MPH in/on any vehicle... I have seen 107 MPH on the GSXR-750 and that was more than fast enough for me. I like riding the "twisties" in the mountains of NC and VA. The tighter the better! Blind corners and quick changes are what turn me on. After receiving a ticket for passing a SUV at 96 MPH on a double yellow line I had to pay off my bike... I couldn't afford $2,700 per year insurance. My next bike will be the KTM 990 Adventure R.
Yea I'm not proud of it but 150mph was probably a weekly occurance on one of our riding routes. NEVER and I mean NEVER in any traffic. If cars were there no way. Again not very smart and could've ended my life but when your young and an "adrenaline junky" as one of my riding buddies said, you just do some dumb things.
That was the thing with this route it was all curves and fantastic riding but the end was a straight shot for a few miles..... Hard to not give into the temptation. Yes eventually got a ticket (and got out of it!!) but sold the bike not too long after. Real life reared its ugly head and I needed money. People always say when they buy these "I'm never going to ride fast".....yea ok.
But again if I got a new one I'd sign up for those track days, although expensive. Curves and speed sections.
