Oil Leak

I have a '02 7.3 that has developed a severe oil leak in what seems to be a small line that runs from the drivers side head to the HPOP on the passengers side.
it seems to be leaking at the braket that secures it to the head on the drivers side.
what is this line called and where can i find one A.S.A.P?
I am in Arlington TX
any help would be GREATFUL!!!
thanks!!!

There are 2 hoses that exit the High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) on the driver's side of the pump. One goes to the head on the Driver's side, the other to the Passenger's head. There are no brackets that hold these hoses in place. They are connected to both the pump and head with Quick Disconnect fittings which require a special tool to release. Both the fittings at the heads and pump require o-rings to seal.

It sounds as if you simply have an o-ring that has began to let go.... a simple fix. The hoses will not normally leak, they just blow when they get deteriorated enough, that is when you loose 2 1/2 gallons of oil in about 20 seconds.

Browse my website and you can get a lot of information on the parts you are looking for.

There is no oil line there. I think you are looking at the fuel line that comes from the passenger's side of the fuel bowl to the front fuel port on the driver's side. Fuel that get's into the valley will mix with the crud in there and drain out the back of the block. When it comes out of the transmission's inspection plate, it is usually black and looks like oil.

Clean the area really well. I stuff clean paper towels around each fitting after it's clean then carefully remove them....you'll find your leak quickly.

Been there, done that.....it's not hard to fix, took me a day. If I had to do it again it would take a couple hours.

Just let the loctite cure when you put it all back together. I was planning on adhering to the recommended 24 hour cure time so I replaced a lot of the fuel bowl o-rings while I had it out. It's a good time to do the FRx if you dont have one already

Thanks for posting..... I just developed the same heavy leak on my driveway. I haven't even opened the hood yet, but I'm thinking I've got the same problem. I take it that yours is fixed now? Will get back when I find mine tonight.

yes,mine is fixed.
now that i re ringed the entire pump,i have increased power, smoother operation, and alot better fuel mileage.
just make sure to get the brown o rings, they are alot better than the black ones, and make sure to use the locktite where needed. and i left out the check valves at the oil lines, because i lost them, lol, and it runs better in my opinion, good luck

Good to hear!

Similar story on my end. This past summer I noticed my up-pipes were finally starting to leak....my EBP actuator in the pedestal has been seeping for years and just recently I've noticed signs of more leaking around the HPOP area.

So, last weekend, after 285k miles I figured it's time to get a little bit dirty. I went after the up-pipes to install new ring gaskets. I stopped along the way and pulled the fuel bowl, HPOP, turbo and pedestal...new seals for all (except turbo) as well as new lines for HPOP and FRx. Ditch the HPOP check valve springs, put it all back together and it's running great. Very smooth and powerful. Nice to have my old truck back.

Tip: While replacing the up-pipe gaskets...several lengths of 1/4" socket extensions will fit where 3/8" size will not. It's almost a straight shot to all 4 flange bolts when using 1/4" extensions. FYI....
