i need some help with my brakes

alright, i have a 99 ford ranger with a 4.0 and auto trans. my brakes was starting to feel real bad a while back so i replaced both front calipers, pads, rotors, bearings, brake booster and master cyl. i replaced the booster because i could hear it leaking vacuum in the truck when i would press the pedel. well went through a gallon of fluid when bleeding them out and using a catch bottle so it would not suck air back in. i could not get any pedel. so then i thought about the the pushrod on the booster. i sdjusted the rod until i got a good feeling pedel. well the truck will stop but sometimes it requires more effort than other times. sometimes i have to go to at least half travel of the pedel before i can feel the brakes starting to grab. i dont think i have abs. i do have a abs light on dash but i only have a porportioning valve under master cyl. the only sensor i see around any of the wheels is the one in the top of the rear end which i replaced because my speedo quit working.

i have run out of idea with this. i can get it to stop but sometimes it takes alot more effort. i dont hear and vacuum around the booster, i dont see any leaks on amy of the lines or at any of ther wheels.

thanks for the help.

Any chance your booster check valve is failing intermittently? Maybe the vacuum hose or inlet is at fault?

My vacuum line on my F-150 booster was porous. Rubbed my hand along it and it looked like I'd handled charcoal brickets.

i listened for a leak but cant hear one. i also held a lit cigg all around the booster wanting to see the smoke going into it somewhere and also did not see a leak. my old booster i could hear the swoosh from inside when i pressed the brake pedeal. with this new one i dont hear nothing.
