i've been using an optima i bought new just less than 3 years ago, and had it tested today because i had a feeling i was cranking too slow. put out 644 CA, rated 1000ca/800cca, so failed the test. battery it was mated with was dead, dropped to 9 volts during the test, and got replaced with a new carquest battery, 1020ca/850cca. holy hell, it cranks twice as fast as it ever has, and without the voltage drop!
for a long time i swore by optimas, but seeing this one fail a test so soon has me concerned with the quality
Most all batteries I have ever used started to slow after 3 years anything more than that is extra I don't really expect any off the shelf battery to do any better than that and any new battery will make your truck crank over 600 rpm even the cheepos.
thanks i kind of thought that is what the 31 meant. i will have to check them out after shool today. i have a tsc right near school.
