89 f250 460 engine

i have a 89 f250 with a 460 engine and duel tanks. i am having a problem when the truck first starts it runs fine. when it starts to warm up it starts choking as if its not getting fuel .when i switch to the rear tank it runs for a minute or two then starts choking out until it dies. i then have to let it sit for a while and it will start again. then warms up and starts coking all over again it will not stay running. i have replaced the fuel pumps in the past but the problem seems to come back after a while. even after the fuel pumps it seems to be starving for fuel if you punch it and hold it for a while then let off suddenly it back fires and shoots a flame out the exhaust pipe although it might look cool i know its not good for the truck i have done a tune up to no avail. please help very frustrated

Have you checked your fuel pressure? I'm wondering if you may have a blocked return line which can cause high fuel pressure. You could be experiencing too rich of a mixture vs. too lean.
