Ford guy asking a question for a friend of mine. he has a 2006 F250 CC. hes been having issues such as dash cluster controls shuting down, power windows not working, radio, ect. ( but not all the time) any ideas for me...ty
First, I would tell your friend to join here himself. It's always better to hear a description of the problem straight from the source. Lots of other good information here for him too.
Also, for best results the title of your thread should represent the nature of the question. Your title "OBS diesel guy looking for help" says nothing about the problem and suggests you are looking for help with an older diesel truck, so people that can better help may be likely to skip over it. A much better title would be "2006 F-250 electrical problems".
I know there is a module that controls a lot of this stuff, but I don't know the technical name for it or exactly where it's located.
I have seen lots of posts like this that are solved by getting new batteries. They say electical gremlins appear when one of the batteries goes bad. Most of the time it is very similar to what you say, weird gauge behavior, noise in the radio speakers. Get the batteries tested.
I didn't even think about that but yes, bad batteries can cause lots of problems. I would think if they were that bad it would have trouble starting, but maybe not. Good place to start though since most auto parts stores test them for free. Also check all cables and grounds for corrosion, loose connections, etc.
Are we talking about a diesel here or gas? The diesels have 2 batteries but gassers only have one.
I would check all the ground connections. You have too many things acting up to be a fuse or a relay.
Check battery connections, both positive and negative. Connections on the starter. Any ground cables that connect to the body. Those are usually found underneath.
