VIN Decode
Can someone please decode my VIN for me?
Here's a picture of my 1966 Ford F100's Warranty Plate:
Also, is there a way to tell if the engine and transmission are original? Should there be "matching numbers"?
I appreciate any help!

F10= F series 1/2 ton 2WD truck
Y= 352, 2bbl V8 engine
K= Kansas City Assy Plant
817XXX= Feb 1966 Build date, 1966 model year truck

A= exterior color...Black
F100= 1/2 ton truck, 5000# GVW
E= Red Crush Vinyl & Red Cody Pattern Woven Plastic(Custom Cab pickup)
81= conventional cab truck, 81B is bore out in interior trim explanation in
Master Parts Catalog which is a Custom Cab trimmed truck in this case.
C= 3 speed light duty manual transmission
08= 3:50 ratio rear differential, open assembly(non locking)

5000= trucks max GVW with full load of fuel, persons and cargo in pounds
172@ 4000= Engines certified NET HP at the specified RPM
25= DSO= Richmond, Va...where the original selling dealer ordered the
truck from. This was not a special order truck, it was bought off the lot.

Time to whiz over to the eye doctor, have your peepers checked, It's an N = Norfolk VA Assembly Plant.
C = Ford type 3.03 3 Speed Manual Medium Duty all Sycromesh Transmission.
It's a 352, not a 240, so it doesn't have the light duty version of this trans / Reference: Text, Section 70, Page 19.
