Hello everyone, I'm usually over in the F100 side. I have a '60 F100 and a '55 F100 project.
Well I'm helping a farmer friend on his F450 7.3L. It starting running rougher and hard starting. Someone else already changed the injectors and I don't know which ones were used.
Here's the symptoms:
With the key on the on position the IDM relay in the fuse box is clicking which leads me to believe the is short some where.
If I ground the red wire on the GP relay the clicking stops and it will start.
Same thing if I send 12v to the other side of the relay. The smaller post, brown wire I think.
With the key on it should energize the entire GP relay with 12v. I'm only getting 12v at the power feed. The two small post are only getting roughly 7.5v and the injector side brown and yellow 0.0v.
Yes I've changed the GP relay and it's still doing the same thing.
One last question, where the heck is the IDM? All I can find is what I think is the EEC. Driver side kick panel. Oh and It's a CA model.
The IDM is under the drivers side front fender near the firewall. Remove the wheel liner to get to it. Heck, if it starts when you jump the GPR, then my attention is on the GP-system first. Maybe put a momentary switch to energize the GPR when needed (cold starts).
Thanks for the quick reply. I've thought about that. I forgot to mention when it's running I'll getting the same voltage as when the engine is turned off and the key on the "ON" position. Weird.
