So I dug these out and I don't think I'm going to be able to help but I figured I would at least post some pics.
This one matches my 460/C-6 plate. I could find no numbers on this particular plate.
This one I was able to locate numbers of D8 AE 6A 373AA
No numbers other than FoMoCo.
Bottom cover plates. No idea on the purple one but red is identical to my C-6.
I have 5 of everything other than that purple one.
So, I'm guessing I'm not gonna find one. Here is plan two; Can one of you that has one trace it onto paper or something and send that to me? I'll go get one laser cut if I have something to use as a template.
this is the manual trans plate that you need ...which I sold already..to me and I don't have both side by side to compare and measure the thickness of each.... the m/t plate looks just like the a/t plate w/out the inspection cover cut out..kind of looks like it is indented but not punched out for the a/t...but it may just be the alcohol or my old age ???
don't get your hopes up as of yet...I will try to get over to my storage area to see if I have another one
Brian.....check that plate....the engine does not change between the auto and/or manual trans set ups...my guess is that the plate that you have there is not for an M block... it does not look like the one I posted for you
bow hunter...according to the guy I sold the plate to ..he said it was eating up starters w/out the plate
I had two trucks, the 4x4 had a 351m with 4spd. I sold the plate with the engine. The other truck had a 460 with auto. This plate was on that truck, the 460 from that truck is the one going in this truck. Both trucks 78, engine is a 78 460. Everything is correct, I just need the plate for a manual trans.
maybe I'm missing what you are confused on?? All of the bolt holes that are common between the block and bell match, it's just the bottom half which has nothing to do with the block, just the starter and the lower bell cover. In the pic, the top holes are a little off to one side, but that's because it is just hanging on those two bolts.
lol, you made me go back over this thread a couple times to see if I had something messed up. Glad it's all cleared up. It's funny how such a "common" part is turning out to be such a hard thing to find.
