what year injectors?
I have a feeling one of mine is starting to head south..
Is there any good readings from AE to check the status of it? Or is the best way to do it is by pulling the valve pan and visually inspecting them or pulling the plug to see if the engine changes? (saw this on a youtube video)
I have a 2001 7.3
Thanks
Trucks that are early 99 PSD's have AB splits, a slightly smaller injector. They will work fine, but have a slightly lower max fueling capacity.
OBS trucks most often have AA injectors, which are much smaller single shots (unless you get a California 1997 PSD, which has AB splits like the early 99's). These will not work well with your truck, unless you have it completely custom tuned. Furthermore, these are smaller injectors - even smaller than the AB's, so you would be going much farther backwards.
In short, not all Powerstroke injectors will work right out of the box, so keep that in mind.
One last thing... most of the time if you pull injectors from a junkyard PSD, they will be stock (assuming you find them, they tend to disappear quickly). However, if the injectors are not stock, there is no way you would be able to know simply by looking at them. Injector solenoids are interchangeable, and do not necessarily reflect the actual injector that sits underneath them. Meaning you could see the serial numbers and injector ID on the solenoid, but there could be a chance that it's a totally different injector.
Just FYI for you.
