Yep, I've worked with, on and around CBs for decades. The Dynamic adjustment controls the microphone gain so that the greater the gain (clockwise) the more audio it picks up. In a noisy environment you would turn it down to restrict the background and then speak closer to the mic. Here is a users manual for your radio:
oh alrightty,, and hey thanks for the manual i saved it to my screen for future use, theres some good stuff on there. And how good is my cb i know its a cobra so its not bad
A CB is like anything else; if it does what you want it to do, then it's good. After working on these things for years, what it all boils down to is does it recieve well and does it transmit well. Reception is good and clear? Transmission is where you walk. Many times a stock radio will be heard better and will be more reliable than one that someone has "tweaked".
Anyway, your 21 is a fine radio. Get a good antenna for it and you'll be golden.
alright yeah just wondering, and yep i gota 4 ft fire stick II,, now i just got figure out how to work my swr meter, i ttied to adjust my antenna but it made no difference on my meter its a midland 23 136
An SWR meter is going to give you the standing wave ratio. The lower the better. Most coax cable you get for your CB will be a specific length so that it decreases the SWR, your antenna is also manufactured so the SWR with a given length cable will be small. Adjustments made on the antenna will be minute usually.
Oh yeah, unless you know what you're doing DO NOT cut your coax cable to a different length. Just roll the extra up and put it under the dash, seat etc.
This discussion brings back some memories of building different antennas for my brothers radios. I recall all the trimming of the arials to create the best signal strengths, tossing ropes into trees to raise the antenna arrays to optimal levels. Lots of fun as kids. I recall he had an old Viking (tubes) that operated on 11 meters (I think that's the CB wave length), but it had plenty more wattage than the commercially available radios, even with linear amplifiers. Lots of weekend nights spent talking to folks in neighboring states or beyond.
lol awsome,, but i went to a cb guy and he noticed i had so wore in my string to connect my antenna so basically i had no antenna so i got a new spring and i get a 1.3 reading so its good now, but we used a different meter too
Glad to hear you got her going. Where'd you mount the antenna? You might take a couple shots and post them in this thread along with your radio mount.. Inquiring minds might like to see your particular set up. I've not gotten my Rangers set up with radios yet. My good radio is still in my '65 Econoline Pickup. (with my Pioneer 8 track)
I used to play around with CBs all the time until I got my HAM license. After that I quit playing on the Childs Band. Not really I still run a CB in every truck and piece of equipment I got, as well as run a base station out of my garage.
yeah i went to a cb guy today and he noticed the wire was broken in my spring so i gota better spring and i have a 1:3 reading so its good now, and i gota new cobra mike that take a 9v battery
