Been in the market for a new CB Radio. Ive read alot on these Trucker Forums and just got to many options and opinions. Most of the guys say you want more power to get out with a good signal. They recomend anything from just the basic Cobra29 to a 10 meter Connex, Galaxy, Texas Ranger and more. With ofcorse a good coxaial and Antenna. Would like to get some addvice from people I trust and not spending to much for not what I want.ThanksRon
I have a Galaxy 969, works great.
Yeah, I know, stupid location, but that is the only place that I could make it work.
And the antenna is mounted on the roof.
That isn't really a stupid location, thats where alot of BIG truckers have theirs, what ever works for you.
See you have the Wilson antenna too, I really like mine!
Well finally made a dision on what to purchase. A Cobra 29LX LCD Display. It had the NOAA Channels on it also. I was told by a tech that these where better than the 29LTD Classics. So far I'm happy with it. Much better than my old one. Found a great Location for it also as you can see. Worked out good I got the 6 Speed manual so it was in the way and with the cup holders sweating when in use with Cold BEER! Still have the 4' FireStick.
I have mine under the seat between driver and pass side above the trans. Its up side down so when you lean foward and look down you can read it a lil bit.
Ron I like were you mounted that can you post more pic of the mount and how you did it?
I don't know how Ron did his, but here's how I did mine. I started with a 90 deg fitting from Radio Shack for the antenna to make it easier to get the antenna hooked up. Then pre-drilled the holes and mounted it. I checked it once after a thousand or so miles and tightened it back down since the headliner will compress a tad. I think I've checked it a couple of times since then, but don't really remember. It's been up there for a couple hundred thousand miles.
