Performax Installed *Updated 2/4 with new pics*

Finally got my performax gauges installed. Had a few setbacks yesterday when I originally started but everything turned out the way I hoped. A few comments on the gauges so far:

I have overheard pod rather than the pillar pod with EGT, Tranny Temp, and Boost in that order left to right. The wiring was pretty straight forward and easy to do. Patience is key for this part. The pod was easy to mount and tucked right above the mirror. I know most mount the ESP box under the hood, but there was a nice open spot under the steering column and next to the fuse box. That's where I put it and worked well for wiring everything up. Kinda defeats the purpose of the box for adding sensors later but oh well, I'm happy with were it is. First thing I noticed was the back lighting color of the tranny temp was slightly different than the other two. It has more of a blue cast rather than green. Not sure why. Also, the boost gauge needle movement is fairly notchy and not near as smooth as I thought it would be. Other than that I'm happy with the way it turned out. Pics to come. I'll have to grab a few tomorrow. Overall, if your looking at gauges to buy, I would recommend the performax line. Yes it's a little more expensive, but the ease of installation was worth it to me.

Ah! Thank you! That's the pic. Ignore the EGT reading. I don't have the sensor hooked up.

Really defeats the reason to go with performax if you mount the ESP in the cab, then you are stuck running all those wires thru the fire wall.

Who did you get the gauges from?

Might want to see if they will to an exchange for you. You have a new tranny temp face (just got rolled out) and an older Boost. That is the main reason for the color differance.

Your Tranny temp has the built in warning light, the boost does not.

Otherwise they look great, I prefer a 2000* EGT but thats just me!

It does defeat the purpose. It was just easier for me to mount the ESP there. I don't plan on adding anymore gauges in the near future. If I do, maybe one or two more.

I ordered through Clay.

Good to know. I was curious why it was like that.

Your Tranny temp has the built in warning light, the boost does not.

Can I set the temp for the warning light to come on or does it already have a pre-set temp built in?

I was looking at that one, but my truck should never see extremely high temps. I don't plan on building the engine up much over stock. Hopefully I never reach 1600.
I intertwined my thoughts in your post^

Give Clay a shout and ask if you can swap the boost for a >one month old gauge...

If he cant or wont let me know and if you can be without it for a short time I will give you a contact to send it to at Isspro and get the face swapped out.

Cant set the warning lights just yet on the Performax... Its coming and I'll post up when available. ( I dont even have a prototype yet...)

So does the warning light have any function as of right now? For example, will it light up if for some reason it sees a very high temp such as 250F?

I'll have to ask Michael on Monday. Not sure if they are preseting them right now or not. Mine are functioning, but I can not adjust them yet. My tranny temp is set to come on at 220*...

Well I finally got around to taking a few more pics. I also got the egt sensor hooked up and functioning. I will say the needle movement is notchy for the egt gauge. I was kinda surprised by that. For those of you that have performax gauges, is your egt gauge needle movement the same way? I'm curious if its just mine. Anyways, here's a couple pics:

I do like having them up high and out of my line of sight. It doesn't distract me at night at all

I need to take a video of mine. Yours are definitely smoother. That is evident in your first video on the boost gauge. I can't do it tonight but I will have time tomorrow afternoon.

Mine is an EV2, but unless I'm creeping really slow, it's nice and smooth.
