Do any of you know how much it cost and how hard it is to fix the lumbar support on a power seat? My dad hit the button to deflate on my seat and broke it. Now all it does is make a bunch of knocking noises. It doesnt work at all now. I hope u give me good news because I dont want to have to spend all my tax refund on this. And yes I have to get it fixed because its the only thing to keep my back from killing my while driving and after driving.
Mine broke also and replaced it and also re-upholstered seat side panel and center seat panel and I think it was less than $300 for all.
I`ve archived the receipt for part but can get it on Monday if ya like.
Lumbar support does not inflate, rather its controlled by a spring loaded mechanical doohikiy. Kinda rickety looking imo
do you have an air lumbar like the cars have, or do you have the mechanical lumbar with the twist ****?
mine is cable controlled with a twist **** like Hank has, and it is a flimsy setup. it is a very thin piece of spring steel, and the cable connector is prone to breaking.
i have a piece of wood wedged in the seat until i can get it fixed.
Most manufacturers use stepper motors instead of air bladders for the push button/memory lumbar supports. Less to go wrong...believe it or not...and its repeatability is more reliable than air bladders.
Sorry, can't help with cost. But, if you are out of warranty you might get a better price from someone that specializes in car upholstery instead of a dealer who would probably farm the repair out to a local shop anyway.
