Hi all, I have a 03 Ex Cab 4x4 6.0 has 150,000 miles, earlier this summer against my better judgement and what I have read here I bought a used Edge Juice with Attitude. Most of the time I had it set on level 1 or 2 but not all the time. After 2-3 months I started to notice when shifting from 1st to 2nd the rpms would flare up. So I unhooked the Edge and took the truck to Ford and had it reprogrammed. I am going to leave the Edge off of the truck for good. It still will flare on the 1-2 shift sometimes, it may go a couple of days and not do it them may do it 2-3 times in a row. So my question is, is this something that can be fixed without a rebuild or am I kidding myself and need to start saving my nickels and dimes for a new tranny. Thanks
How long has it been since the trans was serviced? Has it had a good HOT flush? Have you had it scanned for codes?
Try dropping the oil in the trans pan for 2 oil changes in a row and see if it helps. You'll need 8 quarts of Mercon SP each time you do it. Don't forget the auxillary filter at the front of the truck. The pan filter only needs to be changed in case of a catastrophic failure
I had the fluid flushed and the filter up by the radiator changed less than 20,000 miles ago. As far as it being a HOT flush I can't say, it was done at the dealer shortly after I bought it. As far as codes I checked them with the Edge before I took it off and before the dealer reprogrammed it I asked them to check the codes neither one showed any codes. Thanks
Yeah I think thats the plan for now. Drove it today 80 miles or so no problems at all. Probably save for a beefed up rebuild and leave the Edge on the shelf. Agree on the bad juju with the Edge but after having it I think its bad for a 6.0 period not just the tranny.
